The Security Council, is one of the 5 principal organs of the United Nations, charged with the maintenance of international peace and security. It’s powers include the establishment of peace keeping operations, international sanctions and the authorization of military action; it is the only UN institution with the power to issue binding resolutions to member states
The security council consists of 15 members. The Great powers (China, Russia,France United Hingdom and the U.S.A.) are permanent members of the council. The other 10 are elected on the regional basis according to the subject going to be handled.


The primary function of the Security Council is to keep the world safe and secure through peace missions, military actions etc. With over 50 peacekeeping operations happening all over the world the Security Council is by far one of the most active organizations in the world.
